F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have two left feet, can I learn to dance?

Everyone can learn how to dance!  No one learns at the exact same speed, just like learning any other sport or activity.  We are all unique, part of our job teaching you is to help you find your personal style in dance!

Do you offer Military or Emergency Responder discounts?

Yes, we do!  THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!  Please let us know!

How much does it cost for lessons?

Give us a call to set up your free dance evaluation.  During these lessons we help you plan which combination of lessons will help you meet your dancing goals and budget.

Do I need a partner?

No.  We teach both singles and couples.  For singles, your instructor will be your partner for your private lessons.  During Group Classes and Practice Parties we as a dance family all dance with each other so there will be opportunities for all to practice their dancing and meet other dancers.

Do you teach minors?

Yes, we do teach minors at special discounted rate.  We do require a guardian be present while students under seventeen are taking private lessons or group classes.  Dance is an up close and personal sport we want everyone who learns at Big Sky Ballroom to feel comfortable and have fun. Give us a call anytime, we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

How do I sign up?

Give us a call to schedule your first lesson.  Lessons are scheduled on the hour just like many other appointment types.

What should I wear for my lessons?

Wear something comfortable that you can move comfortably in.  Ballroom dance shoes are always ideal, but for beginners we recommend wearing comfortable “dress” shoes, leather soles or similar are best.  (Rubber soles, tennis shoes, or floppy shoes will restrict your movement)  For ladies shoes with straps or otherwise secure to your foot with a comfortable heel height.  (avoid platforms or stilettos)  Also, ladies don’t forget your “dance pants” if you are wearing a skirt or dress!

What if I already know how to dance?

The dance evaluation is just for you.  From there we will plan your custom program based on your dance goals!

How long will it take to learn?

Each student is unique we custom plan each students program based on their goals, budget, and our evaluation of their learning speed.  (Check out this article…)

How Often should I take lessons?

Your introductory lessons should be scheduled as close together as possible.  Beyond the intro, The average student takes one or two private lessons per week with a combination of group and practice parties.  By taking weekly lessons and practicing you will retain more of the information you are learning each lesson and reach your dancing goals much faster.
